OTTAWA, ONTARIO–(Marketwire – Nov. 27, 2009)
At the recent inaugural Canadian Conference on Modern Shipbuilding (CCMS) held in Ottawa, approximately 150 Canadian shipbuilding representatives recognized common interests, goals and requirements in building a viable, sustainable and competitive shipbuilding industry.
R&D program, human resources, potential niche markets, innovation, education & training and long-term government investment plan, are the topics which have been identified commonly as the most important for the industry to be successful.
“There is a momentum which has been created and there is a clear desire from the industry to discuss and collaborate together,” says conference chair, Pierre-Charles Drapeau.
This conference was just the beginning of the collaboration. CCMS speakers and participants, as well as government and other interested parties can continue to discuss ways to implement their ideas for mutual benefit through the CCMS Forum.
